Wednesday 16th Sept'09.
We set out to do the Silvermine N. dam - Nordhook Peak
- Panarama - Elephants Eye route. It was a very wet day
with low cloud on the hills and so we had to do a simple
circuit of 2 hours duration. A good turnout for such a wet day.
An indication that we all feel in need of the exercise I think.

It was as bleak as it looks here.

Added interest on the 'Dams' walk from Constantia Nek.
On one of Robin's Monday walks to the dams in August, we took a path
left just opposite the Alexandra Dam. It led to a shady ravine
with caves and indigenous forest. We all agreed, all four of us,
that it would be a good lunch venue or just an interesting
addition any time we are passing that way.

Identified as Moraea tripitala (Blou - Uintjie)
of the Iris family.

Common and widespread in rocky sandstone and
soils from the West, Southwest and Southern Cape.
(we only saw one)
Thanks Les.
